SHOPPING centre bosses told of their delight after getting an awards nomination – and immediately passed on the praise to their hard-working staff.

The Bridges in Sunderland has become the latest cause to be nominated for our What’s On Where awards.

An impressed member of the public praised the “asset to Sunderland” and said: “There is always something going on to keep the children happy and break up the day for them.”

News of the nomination brought delight from The Bridges’ centre director Andy Bradley.

He said; “We are delighted that The Bridges has been nominated for the best shopping experience.

“It means that we’re being recognised for all of the effort we have been making to ensure that shopping at The Bridges is a real pleasure and that we offer something for everyone.

“The nomination is also testimony to everyone who works here, from the retailers to the management to all of the behind-the-scenes team who are dedicated to being the best.

“The good news is that the experience is going to continue to improve. We’ve already seen a number of new, top retailers take up residence including Swarovski and Roman Originals and we have also launched our late night shopping evenings on Thursdays.

“All of that, coupled with exciting plans for the year ahead, means that The Bridges will continue to live up to this great nomination.”

The awards are held in association with our weekly entertainments guide, Wow 24/7. They aim to reward the elite in everything from restaurants to children’s venues, takeaways to parks and community areas, and hotels to the best shopping experience.

We want you to nominate your favourites in each of the categories listed on this page. The deadline for entries is February 5. Then the judges will draw up a shortlist from all of the fantastic contenders that we have received in recent weeks. We will reveal the winners on February 26 in a glittering finale at the Best Western Roker Hotel.
