A popular seaside spot in Sunderland is closed to the public today due to weather warnings.
Sunderland City Council has closed Roker Pier because of the bad weather conditions.
The warning says: “With a significant proportion of the city being bounded by the North Sea, the possibility of severe storms and severe weather is a real possibility.
“Severe gales, heavy snow and heavy rain cannot only damage property and threaten life, it may also seriously disrupt communications and utility supply infrastructure.”
The closure comes after the Met Office issued a Yellow weather warning for the North East.
