SUNDERLAND Olympian Tony Jeffries is celebrating his greatest achievement yet – becoming a dad.

The 29-year-old boxer, who won bronze in the Beijing Olympics, took to Facebook to break the news to fans.

The former Farringdon School pupil wrote: “Saturday, July 5, at 4:27am, my wife give birth to our gorgeous baby girl Jayde Jeffries, weighing in at 9.1lb and 21” long in St John’s Hospital, Santa Monica.”

It’s the first child to be born to Tony and wife Sarah, 29, a former Sunderland Royal Hospital nurse.

The couple, who are childhood sweethearts, moved to California to start a new life after injury forced Tony to hang up his professional boxing gloves.

He has since opened two gyms, named Box ‘N’ Burn, which have attracted a celebrity clientele including Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.

Tony has also found himself in the spotlight.

As well as appearing in American primetime TV drama The Blacklist, he has modelled for major brands including Levi’s for a global billboard and magazine campaign.

He was also approached to appear in a Gillette TV advert by media bosses.
