Sunderland AFC is to help this year’s poppy appeal by selling a limited edition poppy pin badge.

The bespoke badge features the traditional poppy emblem alongside the SAFC club crest and all proceeds of the sale of the limited edition item will go to the forces charity.

Only 1,000 of the badges have been commissioned and are available to purchase from either the Stadium of Light or Galleries Washington club stores, priced at £3 each.

Next weekend Sunderland AFC will welcome over 2,500 serving military personnel, veterans groups and families of soldiers who have lost their lives in the service of their country, in what will be the club’s largest-ever military tribute.

Activities will take place prior to the Barclays Premier League clash with Southampton FC and a traditional period of silence will be observed before kick-off.

This will be the 11th consecutive year that members of the Armed Forces and their families have joined with the club in support of the country’s Remembrance Commemorations.

The Black Cats host The Saints at 3pm on Saturday, November 7, with tickets priced from £27 for adults, £23 for over 65s and just £12 for under 16s.
