The 26-year-old is said to be keen on a new challenge, with West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan ready to give him the go-ahead for a summer transfer.

Sakho was signed for £3.5million from Metz and went on to score 12 goals in 26 games in his first season.

West Bromwich Albion are also said to be interested in the 6ft 1ins striker, who scored seven goals in 24 appearances last season.

Sakho is the latest in a long line of players linked with a summer move to Sunderland.
