Claire Douglas has twice held the 5k Run 2 Remember race at the Silksworth Sports Complex in Sunderland, to raise money for charities which support the services.

The details have just been announced for this year’s event, and it will be held once again at the same venue on Sunday, October 30.

More than 300 people signed up last year, and Claire is hoping to top that figure this year.

She said: “I would like to see 400 this time. I would be over the moon if we reached that number.

“It is the third year I have done this and it is one of the best days of my year because of the feedback afterwards which is great.”

However, Claire insisted the success was down to teamwork and not just herself. Claire added: “All my friends and family help.

“There have been no negatives. Everyone has said how fantastic the day is.”

Claire, who lives in Silksworth, staged the race to support a number of charities including the RAF Benevolent Fund. It was held for the first time in 2014 in honour of her niece Jade Outhwaite, who serves in the army. For two years running, the Sunderland Run 2 Remember has been the biggest in the country in terms of the number of entrants
