Sunderland pull out of Davide Santon deal after transfer talks break down

Sunderland have pulled out of a move for Davide Santon at the last minute after publicly confirming that they have pulled out of talks with Inter Milan.

The Black Cats were expected to confirm the capture of Santon today after he arrived in the North East to conclude the terms of a £3million move from Inter.

However, Sunderland released a statement tonight saying that they had ended their interest in the former Newcastle United full-back.

"Sunderland AFC will not be pursuing its interest in Inter Milan player Davide Santon, after negotiations between the two clubs failed to reach a positive conclusion," said the one-line statement.
