The NHS Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is one of three fantastic supporters so far, in our search to find the health heroes of the Wearside area.

The others are City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, with NHS Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group as partner sponsors, and Olivers Dental Studio as category sponsors.

David Gallagher, chief officer of the CCG, explained why it was so important for the organisation to be on board.

He said: “This is our third year of supporting the Sunderland Echo Health Awards in Sunderland, and we’re proud to continue celebrating the hard work and dedication of our local doctors, nurses and health professionals.

“As the organisation responsible for planning and buying NHS healthcare and health services in the city, our aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

“The Sunderland Echo Health Awards help to showcase the achievements of those people who share our vision.”

Do you know an unsung hero in the health profession? Is there a nurse, doctor, dentist or carer who works tirelessly and lovingly in their job without ever seeking praise? Then tell us all about the fantastic health professionals from Wearside and East Durham.

Once you submit them for the heroes of health, we’ll report on nominated causes.

That way, they get the recognition they deserve, whether or not they go on to lift a trophy at the end of the competition.

All we need now is for you to highlight the people who have helped you most.
