SUNDERLAND Central MP Julie Elliott is encouraging Wearsiders to visit an advice and outreach event.

It will be co-hosted by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), an independent organisation set up by Parliament to settle complaints between consumers and businesses providing financial services.

The event will be an opportunity for people, organisations and charities who advise individuals and families with their personal finances to find out more about the services offered by the FOS.

Ms Elliott said: “I’ve received a significant number of enquiries from constituents since I became an MP on a range of financial problems, from issues with banking transfers, to mortgages, pensions and credit cards.

“I have therefore arranged for the Financial Ombudsman Service’s Outreach Team to come to Sunderland to answer any questions members of the public or local charities and organisations might have about financial services, and their financial rights.”

It takes place from 10am to 12.30pm on May 23, at the City Library, Fawcett Street.
