Out-of-favour Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt remains at the top of Leeds United's summer shopping list.

Bridcutt has impressed for Leeds since joining the Championship side on loan last November, with boss Steve Evans making no secret of his eagerness to land the 26-year-old on a permanent basis.

The ex-Brighton man helped Leeds to a third successive win on Saturday when he got the better of fellow Sunderland loanees Danny Graham and Jordi Gomez in a 2-1 victory at Blackburn.

And when asked about the prospects of Bridcutt remaining at Elland Road when his loan deal ends in May, Evans again stressed his desire to keep hold of the Scotland international.

Evans said: "I think Liam's very aware of what I think of him.

"He's very aware of what this football club thinks of him.

"And the one thing I’m very aware of is that Liam loves playing for Leeds United. He never hides that.

"Liam’s a top-quality player, he leads by example in his determination to win a game."

Bridcutt has another 15 months to run on his Sunderland contract, but the Black Cats are hoping he moves on permanently in the summer.

Sam Allardyce made it clear earlier this year that Bridcutt was not part of his plans and he should use his loan spell as a platform to leave the club.

"Realistically from his and our point of view, he shouldn't come back here," said Allardyce, in January.

"He's found it extremely difficult here and he’s made it clear that he doesn't like the place."
