The Black Cats slumped to a 2-0 reverse as goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane meant a promising start for David Moyes' side came to nothing.

Here is the pick of the fan reaction on social media:

Gary Addison‏ @COGpiece: We can't really be relying on Moyes to bring us up next season, we need a new manager now #safc

Joe Hodge @HodgeSAFC: With goal difference taken into account we are now essentially 7 points from safety with 11 games left. There's no way back this time. #SAFC

Garry Burlinson‏ @WilliamsonsDC: Any Sunderland fans that don't think Moyes shouldn't be sacked are nuts.. He won't keep us up . And he won't get us back up. #safc. #keane

Amy Tate‏ @AmyTateyPot: Sunderland make me want to rip out my own eyes #safc

Lee Armstrong‏ @NightwingSAFC: Can't fault the effort from us today but if u can't keep the ball or make the most of it against these teams then ur gunna get beat

Lee Barker‏ @LBarks72: Everything that #Safc used to stand for has died. No pride passion or belief. Beaten before they take the field. Sad sad times.

Paul Wilkinson‏ @Wilky86safc: We will get criticised know matter what we do but they've done very well against WORLD class players #safc #safcvcity

SAFC North Yorkshire‏ @SAFC_NYorkshire: I didn't expect anything today but it still hurts. I just wish we could forward fast to the end of the season as we all know what's coming.
