A CASUAL lunch turned into a proposal for two Wearside lovebirds.
Jennifer Ramsay, of Ashbrooke, had gone for a bite to eat with her boyfriend at a sushi bar not expecting anything unusual.
However, romantic partner Ben Wright, also of Ashbrooke, had hidden an engagement ring in some spicy chicken and it appeared in front of Jennifer as it came round the conveyor belt.
Ben, 29, said: “The idea to propose here just popped into my head. It’s somewhere we like to come and so I thought it would be perfect.
“I spoke to the manager earlier and she helped me set it up. The ring was coming along the belt and I said to Jennifer ‘look at that’. Everyone was clapping when she said yes”.
Jennifer, 24, said: “I was so surprised I couldn’t believe it. The ring is absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I’ve always wanted. I’m so happy.
“When the ring came along, Ben took it off the belt and asked me to marry him. I said yes straight away.”
Nikki Lee, YO! Sushi store manager, in Newcastle, said: “This is the first proposal we have ever had and I think it’s so romantic.”
