Sunderland linked with shock £11m move for ex-Manchester City striker

Sunderland have been linked with an ambitious £11million move for ex-Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a modest campaign at Roma last season with eight goals in 31 Serie A appearances after a big-money move from City 12 months ago.

That has prompted question marks over Dzeko's future, with reports in Italy today that Sunderland have made an £11m bid to bring the Bosnian back to the Premier League.

Sunderland are certainly in the market for a striker this summer after making a move for West Ham's Diafra Sakho earlier this month, while Wolfsburg targetman Bas Dost is also mooted to be on the Black Cats' radar.

However, doubts have been cast over whether Dzeko would be willing to join Sam Allardyce's men.

And even if Dzeko were happy to move to the Stadium of Light, the major stumbling block towards any switch is the striker's pay packet at Roma.

Dzeko wages are reported to be around the £130,000 mark, which is roughly double the amount of Sunderland's top earner.

Meanwhile, Watford have been linked with ex-Sunderland loanee Dame N'Doye.

The striker is back at parent club Trabzonspor after an unconvincing four-month loan spell at the Stadium of Light, but the Turkish side are keen to offload him.

Reports today have suggested that Watford could attempt to swap N'Doye for Ecuador international Juan Carlos Paredes.
