FORMER Sunderland players are set to help a North-East charity.

Hope4Kidz and former Sunderland player, Micky Horswill, will be hosting the SAFC Legends Sporting Dinner on Thursday, September 25, at the Stadium of Light.

Among those who will be at the dinner are Bobby Kerr, who captained the Sunderland team during their 1973 FA Cup victory, former captain Gary Bennett, Dick Malone, Jimmy Montgomery and Gordon Armstrong.

Micky, who is a Hope4Kidz patron, also played on the winning team in the 1973 FA Cup and will be hosting a Q&A session with the other sporting legends as part of the event.

Throughout the evening, there will be live entertainment from stand-up comedian, Josh Daniels, and compere Gavin Brettell, along with a four-course meal and the chance to win various prizes.

The Legends Sporting Dinner will also include an auction, a raffle and a mystery door prize draw, along with a photographer so that guests can have their photos taken with the Black Cats legends.

The evening will begin with a drinks reception at 7pm and will run until 1am. Tickets for the event are priced at £45. To book, contact Hope4Kidz on 534 7788 or email

All proceeds from the evening will go to Hope4Kidz, which helps children and young people who suffer severe illness and disabilities, along with those facing poverty or abuse, by providing medical, learning and leisure equipment.
