Mr Loraine has 40 years of experience in the housing sector, the last 24 as chief executive officer of Isos Housing Group.

It says he brings a wealth of knowledge of the local area, and the North East more widely.

He also has a strong understanding of the requirements of the Homes and Communities Agency as a regulator and will assist Gentoo through his knowledge of governance, finance and performance best practice.

Mr Loraine OBE, chairman designate, said: “We would like to thank John for his efforts in helping reshape the group over the last two years."

"We wish him good luck for the future.

“Myself and the rest of the Group Board and Executive Team will continue to progress Gentoo’s strategy and vision for great homes, strong communities and inspired people.”
