BUSINESS leaders are being tasked with putting their commercial expertise to a different use as a hospice forges forward.
St Benedict’s Hospice, in Ryhope, Sunderland, is recruiting new trustees to its board to support the charity’s vision for the future.

The hospice is looking for business people with a knowledge of development, investment, HR, retail development or clinical skills.
It hopes that new trustees will use their networks to promote the work it does for patients and families.
The hospice is holding a recruitment evening for those interested, offering prospective trustees a chance to find out more about the hospice, the charity, how they work together and how they can make a difference.
Chairman Derek Moss, said: “We’re looking to recruit new members to the trustee board of the charity who will be able to offer their expertise, skills and networks as the charity enters into a period of change.
“It will include the development of strategic, business and fund-raising plans that ensure a cohesive relationship with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, the providers of the clinical services at the hospice, so that we can ensure that patients and their families receive the very best of care at all times.
“We need people who are energetic, entrepreneurial and passionate and committed to the vision we have for the hospice’s future.”
“Business expertise can be across a range of disciplines and, although it will only be for a few hours per month, their valued time will make a great deal of difference to our work here.”
