HAIRDRESSER Jodie Breeds is hoping to emerge head and shoulders above the competition in a national contest.

Jodie, who owns 24 Carat Hair and Beauty in Grangetown, has made it to the finals of UK Extensionist of the Year with a look inspired by comic book characters.

The style she created for Korinne Wilmott wowed judges and led to her becoming one of four finalists in the Commercial Creative and Avant Garde categories.

As part of the contest, Jodie spent a day in London being mentored by multi-award-winning hairdresser Steven Goldsworthy.

She is now preparing to recreate the look live on stage at Pro Hair Live 2014 in Manchester on Sunday. Jodie, from Fulwell, said: “My inspiration comes from the current pop art and candy fashion trend, which is on the catwalks at the moment and aims to bring a fun comic book element to street fashion.

“It was such a massive surprise when I received the word to say I was a finalist.”

If successful, she will win a photoshoot organised by Balmain Hair, which receives extensive coverage in Professional Hairdresser Magazine.
