A battling schoolgirl has enjoyed an inspirational sailing trip after she beat cancer.
Elizabeth McCaffrey, eight, from Sunderland, set sail with help from the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, along with eight other young people also in recovery from the illness.
She joined the crew of one of the yachts to sail on the Firth of Clyde in Scotland, in a four-day yacht adventure.
Elizabeth finished cancer treatment in September 2013 for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
She said: “I really enjoyed the whole week, my favourite bit was when we were sailing and the boat was moving really fast.”
The trust, named after yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur, gives young people in recovery from cancer a chance to rebuild their confidence and also encourages them to work as a team, and get involved in everything from helming boats, to cooking meals.
