A two-year-old child has been rescued by firefighters after becoming locked in a car in Sunderland.

The toddler was freed by crews from Sunderland Central fire station after the incident in Monkwearmouth yesterday evening,

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (‎@Tyne_Wear_FRS) tweeted the following at 9.53pm on Wednesday, March 30:

"Crews from #Sunderland have released a 2yr old infant who had become locked in a car in the #Monkwearmouth area of Sunderland."
