Sunderland fans react to Joey Barton link - and make feelings known about ex-Newcastle star

And Sunderland supporters have reacted to news that the Black Cats were third favourites to sign the former Man City, Newcastle United, QPR and Burnley midfielder.

The controversial 34-year-old was sacked by Scottish giants Rangers following a training ground row with team-mates and boss Mark Warburton.

Barton has been strongly linked with a return to Turf Moor having helped the Clarets back into the Premier League last season before moving to the SPL with Rangers.

However, with Sunderland having problems in midfield, there was talk of him being an outside bet for the Stadium of Light.
