On-loan Black Cats' forward Jeremain Lens netted an exquisite curled free-kick in Fenerbahce's 2-1 win over Manchester United.

And it's fair to say the strike has got Sunderland fans talking.

Here's a look at what the punters have been saying on Twitter.

@MPotts1993 Somebody at #SAFC made a conscious decision to let Jeremain Lens leave on loan because we had Duncan Watmore... Peak #SAFC

@calmackay90 I sound like a broken record when I talk about Jeremain Lens, but he's a top player and it's a joke that #safc to let him go.

‏@Parkersafc We could have had an attacking three of Khazri Giaccherini and Lens behind Defoe but we've got Watmore and an 89 year old Pienaar #safc

‏@DanielJenks89 Lens is a top player on his day and it is scandalous that we have sent him out on loan #SAFC

@Kingy78_ That Lens looks decent for Fenebache #safc

‏@ChrisCrampsey Still don't rate Lens, a good dead ball finish. Doesn't make you amazing and a regret to sell #SAFC

‏@Breheny8 Jeremain Lens there deemed not good enough by Moyes that he sent him out on loan even with our abomination of a squad and injuries #safc

Fans were vocal on Facebook, too.

Here is just a snapshot of what they were saying.

Steve King said: "I think we should recall Jermain Lens from Fenerbache."

Dan Ejstrup-Andersen was also bemused as to why the Dutchman was allowed to leave this summer. He said: "Why was it that Lens was allowed to leave on loan. He might not be very good, but he is still better than a lot of the players in the current squad."

David Bourne was took a little more cynical view of the strike. He said: "Remembering he couldn't be bothered to break into a sweat while playing for SAFC."

Tom Ward was less than impressed by the fact Dick Advocaat, now manager of the Turkish outfit, was still in the dugout. He said: "Also remember Dick who was supposed to be retiring, outwitted Mourinho tonight."
