THOUSANDS of Sunderland fans are gathering in London tonight to celebrate ahead of tomorrow’s cup final against Manchester City.

Supporters of all ages filed through the streets around Covent Garden singing songs and warming up to cheer on The Lads at Wembley tomorrow.

The Metropolitan Police’s Football Unit had earlier sent out messages to fans through social media reminding them that Trafalgar Square – the original rendezvous point – was shut due to preparations for a Russian festival.

Thousands of Sunderland fans set off on a convoy of dozens of coaches this morning, as well as travelling on packed trains and driving from all parts of the country to be there for the Black Cats’ big day.

Thousands more will joing them in the capital before the match kicks off at 2pm tomorrow.
