Here’s to you, Mrs Advocaat ...
Sunderland fans have raised more than £2,200 towards flowers for head coach Dick Advocaat’s wife.
I’m happy to send a nice red-and-white bouquet on to Holland. As long as Dick agrees to pay the delivery charge, I don’t mind.Charlotte’s House of Flowers owner, Charlotte Perrett
The former Rangers boss made a dramatic U-turn yesterday and will lead the Black Cats for the next year.
The Dutchman had initially said he would retire from club football after his wife expressed reservations that he should commit to such a position.
Thankful supporters had set up an online fund to raise cash to buy Advocaat’s other half some flowers as a way of showing their gratitude.
So far, an amazing £2,200 has been raised, with dozens handing over cash donations. You can contribute here: http://www.gofundme.com/w8b7fs
A statement on the donation page says: “A donation from the Sunderland Message Board to give Mrs Advocaat a big thank you for giving us another year of the little general!
“All additional donations exceeding £150 will be split between the SAFC foundation and a charity of her choice.”
Charlotte’s House of Flowers, in Cleveland Road, High Barnes, say they would like to pass on their thanks to Dick’s wife for allowing him to take on the job.
“We get a lot of Sunderland fans coming in and you can see how much the team means to them,” said owner Charlotte Perrett, 22, of Seaburn Dene.
