A DRUG dealer in Sunderland has been ordered to pay back £25,000.

Stuart Mackin, aka Mackay, 30, of Hill View Road, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to supplying a Class A drug (cocaine) in April 2010.

On Friday, July 9, 2010, he was sentenced to five years in prison at Newcastle Crown Court.

Following his conviction financial investigators launched an investigation under the Proceeds of Crime act and a court granted a Confiscation Order for the sum of £25,000.

In October 2009, Mackin had almost £3,500 forfeited after a Forfeiture Order for £3,469 was granted.

Neighbourhood Inspector Neal Craig, who covers the area, said: “We’re working hard to make the city an even safer place and will not hesitate to take action against those who are involved in crime.

“We will continue to use the powers we have under the Proceeds of Crime Act to make sure the money they have got through criminality is taken off them.

“Drugs bring harm, misery and distress to the lives of too many people and we make no apology for the tough approach we take against those responsible for supplying them.”
