A popular young dad took his own life at home, an inquest has ruled.
The body of Josh Hedley, 20, was discovered at his house in the Witherwack area of Sunderland on October 25.
The Sunderland AFC fan was a dad to Kaydin, two, and Cameron King, five months.
Former Red House Junior School and Monkwearmouth Comprehensive student Josh had trained as a fabricator welder after leaving school and had dreams of an Army career, but his asthmatic condition prevented him from realising that ambition.
He had put his career on hold so that he could be closer to his two boys.
Speaking to the Echo following his death, Josh’s parents Tracy, 45, and Paul, 50, along with sister Hayley Dove, 28, and brother Paul, 22, thanked those who offered their support as they come to terms with their tragic loss.
Speaking from the family’s Red House home, Tracy said: “He was a brilliant dad and for his age, he really took to it.
“With Kaydin, he took him everywhere he went. We all work full-time, but we made sure we saw them every day.
“If anyone saw Josh, they would see Kaydin there with him. He was very loving and he was kind.”
Hundreds of people turned out to pay their final respects to Josh at his funeral at Holy Trinity Church in Southwick, which was followed by a ceremony at Sunderland Crematorium.
His parents’ house was inundated with cards following the tragedy.
At an inquest at Sunderland Coroner’s Court, it was ruled that Josh had committed suicide by hanging.
