COLLEGE bosses have said they will press ahead for housing plans on the site of their fire-hit campus.
Plumes of smoke could be seen from miles around on Easter Monday as the Shiney Row campus of Sunderland College went up in flames.
The centre has been shut for more than six months and college chiefs have stressed the blaze has no impact on its operations.
Karen Wade, director of facilities management at Sunderland College, said: “The campus has been vacant since last summer and therefore there has been no impact to our staff and students as a result of the fire, and thankfully nobody was hurt.
“The college will continue to seek a developer to take forward plans for the Shiney Row site.”
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
