MOVEMBER-FANS who have let their lip hair grow wild this month can get shorn of their taches and give their fund-raising totals a boost at a city nightclub.
Those heading to The Basement, in Green Terrace, tomorrow evening can have their moustaches, grown during the past month, shaved off free of charge by barber Scott Trembath.
They will also be given £5 each by club bosses for their fund-raising as Movember ends and the month of December starts in the early hours of this Sunday.
Movember is held annually each November, with millions of people sprouting moustaches in order to get sponsorship and raise money towards deadly prostate and testicular cancers as well as mental health.
Peter Cummins, operations manager at The Basement, said: “All of the staff here have taken part in Movember this year, so it’s our way of showing support.
“Saturday’s a busy night anyway for us, so if people want to come along and get an extra fiver added to their campaign, then we are happy to help.”
Movember first began in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, when 30 “Mo Bros” grew moustaches to kickstart the fund-raiser.
The campaign has grown to become a global movement, inspiring more than four million men and women to take part in the fund-raiser across 21 countries.
To date, more than £276million has been raised with the aim of improving men’s health.
Famous faces such as former snooker player Jimmy White and Sexy Beast actor Ray Winstone have given their backing to this year’s campaign.
Those wanting to have their moustaches shaved off can turn up at The Basement between 8pm and 10pm tomorrow.
