Carlton Fairweather’s side is struggling one place off the bottom of WSL1 with just three points from seven games.

Doncaster Rovers Belles are bottom of the league without a point so far, but have three games in hand on the Lady Black Cats.

Sunderland signed four players before the start of the season, but Rachel Pitman and Kylla Sjoman both suffered ACL injuries while midfielder Lucy Staniforth has also had injury problems.

Krystle Johnson was signed from Manchester City but failed to impress, and last week left Sunderland to join WSL2 side Everton.

Fairweather will be hoping the signings can be completed soon and will bring some much-needed experience to his squad.
