Sunderland closing in on deal for Peterborough United defender
Sunderland are hopeful of sealing a deal for Peterborough United defender Jack Baldwin.
The Black Cats have agreed a fee and personal terms for the 25-year-old, who will undergo a medical on Friday.
It represents a breakthrough for Jack Ross who made the richly experienced a defender a top target this summer.
Baldwin played 43 times for Peterborough in all competitions last season but was made available for transfer by new manager Steve Evans.
Sunderland were knocked back earlier in the summer with their initial bid but now look to have made significant progress.
Should Baldwin sign then it is likely to complete Ross' incoming business with regards to his defence.
Baldwin would fight for a place with summer signings Alim Ozturk, Tom Flanagan and Glenn Loovens.
