Sunderland care home welcomes furry friend Bailey the cockapoo as a permanent resident

The furry friend has moved in at Falstone Manor Care Home, in Roker.

He was originally meant to stay at the home, in Whitburn Road, for a few days.

But after residents and staff fell in love with him, it was decided he should stay with them permanently.

Caz Smith, Falstone Manor manager, said: “To see the delight on our residents’ faces when they greet Bailey every day is truly magical. He has brought so much joy to everyone and become firm friends with all.”

Residents at the home, which is run by company HC-One, enjoy taking Bailey for walks along the beach and in the park, and he can often be found in the home’s cinema room cuddled up with the residents to watch a movie.

Bailey loves the attention and received plenty of hugs and kisses from the residents at the home, which offers care to dementia patients.

The pooch goes home with Caz each night and comes back every day to spend the day with his new friends.
