BLACK Cats captain Lee Cattermole put football rivalry aside to support the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation’s annual golf day.
The midfielder joined the late Sir Bobby’s wife Lady Elsie at the event, along with Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray and former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer, as well as a host of current and former players from across the North East.
They played 18 holes of golf before attending a dinner and charity auction, wher the lots included a signed painting of Sir Bobby.
Lady Elsie said: “It’s a very special fund-raiser for our charity and the money raised will make a real difference in the fight against cancer.
“The event’s been wonderfully well supported once again by the region’s football clubs and former footballers, including our patron Alan Shearer, and we’re very grateful to all of them.”
A spokeswoman for the foundation said: “What’s really nice is it is has brought North East football together.
“The atmosphere is great, it’s so relaxed and everybody is just together in support of the foundation.”
The event was held at Rockliffe Hall, in Hurworth-on-Tees.
