Police are dealing with an incident in Sunderland after a man climbed onto the wrong side of the safety railings on the Wearmouth Bridge.
Officers attended the scene at 7.30am this morning and are talking to the man as they wait for specialist negotiators.
Five fire crews are standing by in case they’re required to help bring him down.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Police received a report at 7.30am this morning to a report of a man on the wrong side of the railings on Wearmouth Bridge.
“Officers are continuing to engage with the man.”
There was no traffic disruption due to the incident, and shortly after 10am the man was reported to have returned to the right side of the railings.
