A SUNDERLAND landmark was closed this morning after a man threatened to jump from it.
Both lanes of the Queen Alexandra Bridge were shut after police and the ambulance service were called at 6.55am.
At just before 8am, traffic travelling into Sunderland city centre was allowed to cross the bridge.
Officers remained at the scene this morning.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At 6.55am, police received a report of concern for a man who was on the wrong side of the railings on the Queen Alexandra Bridge.”
