The Sunderland boss has been mentioned heavily with the international post following criticism of current manager Gordon Strachan.

However, Moyes, while admitting he would love to manage his country has backed Strachan's stewardship of Scotland.

“I’ve said many times that it’d be great to manage my country some time in my career,” said the Black Cats chief.

“It’s not, it’s definitely not now and it’s definitely not while Gordon Strachan’s in place.

“Gordon’s the best man for the job and is picking from a select group of players, and I don’t see whoever takes the job doing it much or any differently to how Gordon’s doing it.

“For me, it’s right that they keep Gordon and if they do change it would only be for change’s sake. I don’t see that in football management now.”

The SFA this week gave Strachan their vote of confidence despite the side struggling in their World Cup qualifying group.
