Sunderland to assess injured four ahead of Watford clash
Sunderland's injured quartet will be assessed ahead of Saturday's game against Watford - with Billy Jones the latest concern.
The right-back hobbled off 59 minutes into the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Stadium of Light, with Donald Love coming on as his replacement.
Further injury concerns is the last thing manager David Moyes needs, with Victor Anichebe, Steven Pienaar and Javier Manquillo also missing the match with unspecified knocks.
Moyes had alluded to fresh injury concerns in the build-up to the game with 17-year-olds Joel Asoro and Josh Maja on the bench along with fellow Under-23 forward George Honeyman.
Moyes said those players carrying knocks will be assessed at the club’s Academy of Light training base today, with Sunderland down to the bare bones at the moment.
When asked about the injuries, Moyes said: “I don’t know yet. Victor and Steven were not available.
“Javier Manquillo got injured in training on Sunday, he could have been involved. They were the three players missing out with injury ahead of the game.
“I will assess them all and see how they are.”
Sunderland are already without long-term casualties Lee Cattermole, out until March, Duncan Watmore who is out for the season and Lynden Gooch, facing three months out with an ankle injury.
Jack Rodwell is back training but is still a couple of weeks away from a return to the side.
