Kone was subject of a bid from Everton for the same amount in the summer but Sunderland blocked the move and handed the defender a new, improved contract.

The Mirror claim there is an £18million clause in his contract and say Hammers boss Slaven Bilic will make his move in January.

Kone continues to be a transfer target for Everton, while Southampton, Manchester United and Chelsea have previously been credited with an interest.

Everton’s interest proved a major summer distraction, but manager David Moyes says the defender refocused after penning a new deal.

Kone signed for Sunderland for £5million from Lorient in January.

With funds tight and the club close to the financial fair play cap for wages, Sunderland’s January transfer business will be limited.

Moyes will have to be creative in the transfer market given the lack of funds available and Kone remains one of the most saleable assets.

Should Sunderland decide to cash in and free up wages in the process, then West Ham are among a number of clubs monitoring the situation.

A Scotland youth international, the 17-year-old McAllister can play on either wing or behind the striker.

He has made a total of eight appearances this season, scoring one goal.

The Daily Mail report scouts from Leicester and Aston Villa and several Scottish Premier League sides have also been keeping tabs on him.
