Sunderland AFC transfer news: West Brom weigh up Sakho move, winger seals Serie A switch

The Baggies have emerged as an alternative for West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho - who has been the subject of interest from Sunderland all summer.

His potential move to the Stadium of Light would be in jeopardy though if the FA decide to offer Allardyce the England job, following talks in Cheshire earlier this week.

The Evening Standard are reporting West Brom are weighing up a move, with two other Premier League clubs battling for his signature.

The Echo understands Crystal Palace and Watford are also both tracking Sakho, who is keen to be reunited with Allardyce after his spell working under him at West Ham.

Emanuele Giaccherini's agent has confirmed that the Sunderland midfielder's move to Napoli is done.

Giaccherini's future has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer, with several Italian clubs vying to sign the 31-year-old after his productive loan spell at Bologna last season and a series of impressive performances at Euro 2016.

The ex-Juventus man's agent, Furio Valcareggi, has confirmed that a move to Napoli - mooted to be around the £1.2million mark - is done and is due to be confirmed today.

"It's all done, the last few details with Sunderland are being smoothed out," said Valcareggi.

The 2015-16 season was a breakthrough year for the England Under-21 ace, who became a regular in the matchday squad under Sam Allardyce.

And now he is looking to build on that when the new season kicks off at Manchester City.

"Part of pre-season is working hard because the start of the campaign is important for us," Watmore told the club's website.

"We haven’t been as good as we should’ve been in recent years and the manager has been very clear on that, so we know the work we have to do and the staff have put together a really good pre-season for us.

"All the players have taken to it perfectly and they’re getting on with the work because if you don’t put in the hard work you won’t get the benefits, so it’s something you have to enjoy and embrace which is what we’re doing at the moment so its good fun.

"I really enjoyed last season, especially the way we stayed up at the end, but I’m hoping to build on that this year and I won’t get carried away because I have a lot of work to do on my game.

"One thing I do have is the right coaches, the right facilities and the right players to learn from, so as far as I’m concerned I’m going to keep pushing myself to see what I can achieve and become a better player."
