But his wage demands are likely to be beyond the Deepdale pay scale.

Blackburn Rovers, where he spent the second half of the campaign, are also interested but any move would depend on the approval of their new manager.

And finally, Watford have joined the race to sign Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini, who is set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.

The 31-year-old wideman spent the entire 2015-16 season on loan at Serie A side Bologna and is set to be in the Italy squad for Euro 2016.

Premier League side Watford, Bologna, Fiorentina and Lazio are also tracking the winger.

"If Fiorentina and Corvino want to call, then we’re ready to talk," agent Furio Valcareggi told Lady Radio.

"They have to hurry up, though, because he is in the Nazionale and appreciated by many coaches."

Giaccherini scored seven goals in 27 Serie A games.
