Sunderland AFC transfer news: Cats linked with Romania striker and Manchester United midfielder
Sunderland have again been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
But the chances of landing the Belgian international are remote to say the least given Sunderland's financial situation, with reports suggesting United are open to offers for the 29-year-old but only on a permanent deal.
Reports in the national press suggest Manchester United would be willing to do business for around £20million but the fee coupled with his wages mean it would be a non-starter for the Black Cats.
West Ham United have also been credited with an interest.
Sunderland's midfield options have been hit in recent weeks after Paddy McNair and Duncan Watmore were ruled out for the season, while Lynden Gooch and Lee Cattermole face lengthy spells out.

The 23-year-old Romania international has scored five goals in 15 appearances this season having joined from Cordoba in the summer.
Adding another striker to the squad will be a priority for David Moyes when the January transfer window opens, with the club heavily reliant on Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe.
But with Sunderland £140million in debt, January business is expected to be limited with the club also close to the salary cap for wages.

The Black Cats will also be backed by a sell-out support against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
