SUNDERLAND AFC will again continue its tradition of observing a period of silence at the last home game of the year, in memory of supporters, former players and club officials who have passed away.

The period of silence will take place before kick-off at the Boxing Day game against Hull City, with both sets of fans encouraged to remember supporters who are no longer with us, and also to pay tribute to former Black Cats stars and club staff who passed away in 2014.

Former players Harry Bell, Gary Breeds, Iain Hesford, Gordon Harris, Malcolm Keenan, Calvin Palmer, John Shackleton, Nigel Walker and Bill Walsh, along with former club chaplain Father Jim Cronin and masseur Bill Wilson, have all passed away this year.

The club asks supporters to take their seats early ahead of the 3pm kick-off to ensure that the silence is observed in the appropriate manner.
