Sunderland AFC news: Striker linked with Birmingham, Boycie taunts Newcastle, Defoe blow

Now that the season is over, attention has already turned to the transfer window for football clubs.

It’s no different at Sunderland, with Sam Allardyce swiftly looking at incomings and outgoings after the Black Cats beat the drop.

Allardyce revealed to the Echo that he will open talks with Sunderland’s loan stars DeAndre Yedlin, Yann M’Vila and Dame N’Doye to get their future sorted as quickly as possible.

One player who won’t be returning to the club, however, is Danny Graham. The striker, who spent the second half of the seaon on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, is out of contract at Sunderland.

And the 29-year-old has today been linked with a move to another Championship outfit, Birmingham City.

Elsewhere, Sunderland fans continue to mock Newcastle United over their relegation – and were today joined by a TV star.

Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis – AKA Boycie – has appeared in a video taking the mickey out of the Geordies.

Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe isn’t in as jovial spirits after he was left out of England’s Euro 16 squad by boss Roy Hodgson.

Defoe, who scored 18 goals this season, hasn’t been included in Hodgson’s provisional 26-man squad for the tournament this summer.
