Sunderland AFC news: Away tickets sold out for Tees-Wear derby, David Moyes challenges squad

David Moyes was due to take his Sunderland side to the Riverside on Saturday, March 11 but the game is having to be rearranged as a result of Boro progressing in the FA Cup.

Premier League bosses are expected to wait until Manchester City have played Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night in their FA Cup fifth round replay before rearranging the Tees-Wear derby.

Sunderland will be supported by 2,926 fans at the Riverside.

A Sunderland statement read: "Supporters are advised that the tie will be rearranged by the Premier League and further information will be announced regarding this in due course.

"Sunderland AFC will be providing complimentary buses from the Stadium of Light to the Riverside (and return).

"Supporters must book their place in advance, by contacting the ticket office on 0191 5515004, between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

"Departure times will be confirmed at a later date."

The postponement of the game at the Riverside coupled with the next international break means Sunderland only have two games next month; Manchester City at the Stadium of Light on Sunday before they host Burnley on Saturday, March 18.

The players returned to action at Goodison Park a fortnight after their collapse against Southampton and while the performance was certainly an improvement, they were left empty-handed again, three points adrift of safety.

Moyes said: "I hope it shows. I remember we went there with Everton and we came back and had a great run after it.

"I hope that run that I keep talking about is not too far away."
