But after rubber-stamping his move to the Stadium of Light yesterday, details are emerging of N'Doye's switch from Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan.

Reports in Turkey have indicated that Sunderland have paid a fee around the £1million mark to sign N'Doye on a four-month loan deal, with a possibility of a permanent switch next summer.

The capture of N'Doye solves Sam Allardyce's hunt for a new centre-forward after Sunderland had considered Frenchman Sebastian Haller, who had previously been watched by the Black Cats last summer.

Haller has held talks with Norwich City over a £7million move from Dutch side FC Utrecht.

But Sunderland are unlikely to hijack the move, with a view at the Stadium of Light that Haller remains raw, particularly for such a lofty transfer fee.

In-form Jermain Defoe will lead the line for Sunderland tomorrow at his former club Spurs after his five goals in the last two games have helped the Black Cats to back-to-back Premier League wins.

That has moved Sunderland to within a point of the safety mark, with boss Allardyce admitting that anything will be a "bonus" at White Hart Lane now after Wednesday night's win at Swansea.
