Sunderland AFC news: £12m price tag on West Ham defender, midfielder transfer on ice

Sunderland would need to shell out around £12million to land West Ham defender James Tomkins, according to reports today.

Tomkins was strongly linked with Sunderland in the January transfer window and a raid on Sam Allardyce's former club has again been mooted this summer.

Sunderland are in the market for a new central defender after the release of Wes Brown and captain John O'Shea approaching the final 12 months of his Black Cats deal.

However, Sunderland would need to spend big to land Tomkins, with reports that the Hammers have put a £12m price tag on the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson will make a decision on his Black Cats future after Euro 2016, following a frustrating season at the Stadium of Light.

Larsson started just five Premier League games last season and is approaching the last year of his Sunderland contract.

However, there has been no approach to Larsson's camp from Leeds United, despite speculation over interest from the Championship side.
