Sunderland AFC news: Allardyce on future of Ajax-target, £10m-rated Ayew linked, duo relish England challenge

Sam Allardyce was keen to bring the Swans 12-goal top scorer to Wearside in January but the two clubs couldn't agree a deal.

But with Premier League status now confirmed for another season, The Sun report Sunderland are set to test Swansea's resolve with another move for the forward.

When quizzed previously about his future, Ayew said: "I think you should ask the chairman.

"I'm happy here. If I have to stay, fine. If I have to leave, I have to leave.

"What is important for me is that I keep doing my work, and in football the truth of today is not the truth of tomorrow. We'll see what's going to happen, we'll have a discussion and see the way forward.

"I've enjoyed the Premier League, I think it's the best league in the world. The intensity, the determination from every team. It's a league where you enjoy every game. Every game is difficult, you can never say you've won it before you've played it."

Lens made his first start in more than three months in Allardyce’s much-changed line-up for the final day clash at Watford, with the 28-year-old registering an assist and a goal in the 2-2 draw.

Allardyce told the Echo: "It depends what Lens wants to do – stay or fight or move on.

"He’ll decide that when we have a conversation."

The pair - who both completed 90 minutes in the 2-2 season finale at Watford - are set to meet up with the England Under-21 side for the prestigious Toulon Tournament.

The Three Lions will face Portugal, Guinea, Paraguay and Japan during the latter stages of May.

And 22-year-old stopper Pickford - who shares a room away with Watmore while away with England - is looking to pick up where he left off following an impressive campaign with Gareth Southgate’s young side side.

"Unfortunately I have to share a room with him again. He’s a nightmare," joked Pickford.

"No, he's a great lad really and we'll play three or four times in eight days so the games are in quick succession and it’s a good experience.

"It was a really good tournament last year when I went with the Under-20s, so it’s a good chance to get a few more games under my belt and hopefully a few more clean sheets," he told the club website.
