The Black Cat Academy membership scheme has been set up to cater for three different age groups - 0-5 years, 6-11 years and 12-16 years.

Young fans will have their own special section within the club website where they can enter competitions and take part in age-appropriate activities.

All those who sign up will receive a welcome pack, which includes a special gift.

They will also have access to the chance to be a matchday mascot (age restrictions apply) and receive a special contract from Sunderland AFC manager, Jack Ross.

Other incentives include a chance to get involved in the club’s ‘junior job roles’ scheme, where they can get to the heart of the action at the Stadium of Light on matchdays.

Exclusive member-only events will also be held, tailored specifically to the three age groups. Members will also get the chance to be part of the new Black Cat Committee, a fans forum specially designed for young supporters.

Black Cats boss Jack Ross said: "I remember the excitement of going to my first match as a young supporter and meeting players. It would be fantastic to see as many youngsters as possible getting behind the team and showing their support and hopefully our junior membership scheme will encourage a whole new generation of Sunderland fans."

Membership is just £20 per person, per season. To sign up, call the Stadium of Light ticket office on 0371 911 1973, visit www.safc.com/blackcatacademy or email [email protected].

The deadline to sign up is August 31.
