Birtley ABC amateur, Joe Laws, who has joined the Jeffries camp, makes his first pro appearance along with fellow Newcastle fighter, Terry Wilkinson, who boxes out of the Ritson gym in Forest Hall.

Several of the region’s newest professionals are on the card.

Light-heavyweight Lawrence Oseuke is hoping to make it four victories in four months, while Trimdon’s Terry Tyers will be making his third appearance in the paid ranks.

Teesside is represented by the Hill brothers, Joe and Tom, who box out of the East Durham gym of David Binns.

Joe is boxing for the second time and Tom ‘One Bomb’ is having his fourth contest.

The experienced figure on the bill is their team-mate, Darren Surtees who is still only 23-years-old!

Thornley’s “Dazzla” is making a much-anticipated return after 13 months out.

Trained by Binns in Peterlee, Surtees has not boxed since stopping Ross Jamson to be crowned Northern Area light-welterweight champion in May, 2017.

“North East boxing is booming at the moment, so it’s nice to be able to bring the fans the new unbeaten talent,” said Jeffries.

“The Summer Rumble is always value for money and me and Steve think we have put together a quality card.”
