Students get licence to thrill at James Bond-themed fundraiser

Students have been given a licence to thrill in a bid to raise cash for charity.

The young people at East Durham College will be hosting a Bond-themed evening to boost funds for Hartlepool & District Hospice.

Creative industries students will transform the Peterlee campus’ Lubetkin Theatre with a Casino Royale-inspired theme for the James Bond experience evening.

Dressed to impress those taking part in the formal evening will be able to enjoy the gaming tables as well as entertainment from students and food from the catering department.

Lecturer in creative industries at East Durham College, Billy Nicholson, can’t wait to see the exciting ideas come together.

Billy said: “The students wanted to put on an evening event as part of their course to help raise some money for the local community.

“When they researched into the work done by Hartlepool & District Hospice they knew that’s who they wanted to help.

“The ideas for the night so far have been brilliant and I can’t wait to see it all come together and hopefully we can raise a good sum of money to help towards the hard work the hospice does.”

Janice Forbes, community fundraiser at Hartlepool & District Hospice, said: “This will be a great night and I would urge James Bond fans to get tickets.

“Thanks to everyone involved in organising the night, we wish you every success and all the money raised will go to supporting our patients.”

Tickets for the James Bond evening, on Thursday, April 21, cost £10 and are available from the Peterlee campus reception or by phoning 0191 518 8222.
