Scene1, based on the college’s Peterlee Campus, in Willerby Grove, will be open Tuesday to Friday lunchtimes (noon to 2pm) as well as Tuesday evening (6pm to 9pm) and Thursday evening (7pm to 8.45pm) from tomorrow.

Sharon Littler, programme leader for hospitality & catering, said she cannot wait to get back to full working order as the new students get the opportunity to put their new skills into practice in a working environment.

She said: “The restaurant is a really important aspect of the training our students receive. It ensures they get real live experience of serving and cooking for real, paying customers.

“It’s great when the restaurant is full, as it puts the students under real pressure and teaches them how to cope with it – and that’s vital experience in this industry.”
