Stepping up to walking challenge

WALKERS are needed to put their best feet forward for youngsters.

The charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young, CRY, will hold its annual walk along the banks of the River Wear, in Durham City, on Saturday, October 6.

Hundreds of people are being urged to join the walk to raise money for the charity, which screens youngsters for heart defects.

The walk will start at noon from Durham Amateur Rowing Club boathouse and will follow a seven-kilometre circular route.

The family and friends of Levon Morland from West Rainton, who have raised £150,000 for the charity since his death in 2002, will be among those taking part in the walk.
